Job Description:
SUMMARY
The Maintenance Worker II - Housing is responsible for completing maintenance tasks and services, including grounds keeping of Tribal Government properties, facilities, Tribal Housing, and rental properties.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs carpentry tasks, including the installation and maintenance of roofs, siding, flooring, windows, shelves, cabinets, and hardware, using both power and hand tools.
- Paints, plasters, and maintains finished surfaces for all tribally owned buildings, including rental properties and tribal housing, both indoors and outdoors.
- Carries out electrical duties such as troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical fixtures and equipment, including replacing fuses, lamps, bulbs, and ballasts.
- Inspects, tests, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, generators, and other general maintenance equipment.
- Provides information to Director of Facilities Maintenance and Lead Maintenance Workers to obtain quotes for contracting and supplies, assisting with prioritizing maintenance projects, and helping establish maintenance schedules.
- Works alongside the Facilities Maintenance team to ensure the proper grooming of Tribal property grounds, including tasks such as mowing, weed whacking, brush cutting, and applying insecticides and weed sprays.
- Conducts general scheduled maintenance tasks, such as cleaning windows (inside and outside) on Tribal properties, inspecting and replacing light bulbs, and periodically collecting and disposing of garbage.
- Provides assistance in moving furniture and/or heavy equipment as needed for all facilities.
- Assists with cutting, splitting, stacking, and distributing firewood to Tribal elders and members as needed.
- Maintains professional communication with Tribal members and fellow employees at all times.
- Other duties as directed by management.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY & RESTRICTIONS:
- No supervisory authority or oversight.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a high stress, fast paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposed to wide variety of weather conditions.
- Exposed to dust, and chemicals.
- Moderate noise level with frequent distractions and interruptions.
- Infrequent exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
- May require travel locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.
HOURS
- 40 hours per week.
- Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with possible occasional evening and weekend work.
