This role is vital in helping residents maintain independence, build self-confidence, and achieve long-term housing stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Resident Support & Advocacy
- Conduct regular needs assessments to identify support services required by residents.
- Provide direct referrals to appropriate service agencies and assist residents in securing benefits.
- Act as a liaison between residents, property management, and external service providers.
- Promote positive communication between residents and management.
- Program Development & Community Engagement
- Develop and facilitate social programs and activities that promote self-sufficiency, independence, and wellness.
- Support educational initiatives and community-building efforts within the property.
- Address and help resolve individual and group conflicts among residents.
- Crisis Intervention & Emergency Support
- Respond to referrals from residents, staff, and external sources in a timely manner.
- Offer immediate intervention in crisis situations when appropriate.
- Provide ongoing support to help residents successfully maintain their housing stability.
- Compliance & Professionalism
- Ensure all activities comply with Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA, and other federal/state laws.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Barkan Management with integrity.
- Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Clinical Case Work (or equivalent education/experience)
- LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) – Required
- Proficiency in Russian and English (preferred but not required)
- Experience working with diverse populations, elderly residents, or housing support services
