Job Overview
Responsible for inspecting freezer equipment, performing basic maintenance duties for freezers, and defrosting freezers as necessary
Responsibilities
- Routinely inspect freezers and freezer equipment
- Inspect equipment daily
- Evaluate integrity of freezer equipment and determine potential or actual equipment failure
- Report any problems to the maintenance supervisor
- Perform preventative maintenance repairs on the freezers as needed
- Perform basic maintenance duties for freezers as necessary
- Assist in repairs of refrigeration systems, boilers, and hydraulics
- Maintain operational ability and integrity of all freezers
- Conduct shut down and start up operations for freezers according to proper procedures
- Conduct cleaning (defrosting) operations for freezers
- Perform basic preventative maintenance procedures
- Maintain all records and documents
- Responsible for fire sprinkler system for all areas.
- Assist with the training and development of all Refrigeration Personnel
- Update daily compressor room logbook’s
- Daily water chemistry for Boilers, RO and Towers, log and correct any issues
- Responsible for maintaining all refrigeration equipment, freeze tunnels, water wells, water storage and filtering, boilers/steam piping, central hydraulic system, and forklift/pallet jacks
- Responsible for keeping the refrigeration/forklift/battery rooms clean and always organized
- Follow all food safety (GMP) and general safety guidelines
- Follow all lock-out/tag-out procedures for all equipment
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently work in an extremely cold environment
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, ammonia systems, hydraulics, boilers, and basic freezer equipment
- Basic knowledge of plant operations and equipment
- Electrical/electronic/PLC trouble shooting and repair ability
- One year of previous refrigeration experience
