Overview
The Assistant Manager position is responsible for setting a good example for co-workers, maintaining good attendance, responsible and possessing a positive attitude. Assists developmentally, physically, and cognitively disabled adult individuals by providing personal cares, self-care training, implementation of behavior management plans, and accompanying support during social/recreational opportunities, either in the resident’s home or out in the large community.

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Adult Family Homes , CBRF, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and work independently.
  • Understanding of resident rights, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.

Location:

Milwaukee Metro Area

Shifts Available: Full-time, primarily 1st shift with rotating weekends, and on-call responsibilities. Flexibility to work any shift is required, including nights, weekends, and overnights.

What You’ll Do:

As a AFH Assistant Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a residential facility. You'll serve as both a Program Manager and Floating Caregiver, helping wherever needed.

  • Be available 24/7, either by phone or in person, to respond to emergency situations and ensure staff coverage.

This position is a mixture of admin and direct care duties

Responsibilities:

  • Manages staff on the designated shift.
  • Manages activities, member care, and the execution of CTL policies and procedures during the scheduled shift.
  • Training of Care staff according to the training schedule and guidelines. Ensure all staff are following guidelines once training is complete.
  • Maintain proficiency and train caregivers on the BSPs and care plans for each member. Ensure that staff is documenting accurate and current plans accurately, to ensure the consumer’s overall needs are being met.
  • Assist Program Manager with the following; hire, promote, suspend, and terminate
  • Conducts tours and assessments as needed
  • Provides assistance with new resident assessments as needed
  • Develop, maintain, and review ISPs, and BSPs
  • Investigates employee issues as needed
  • Monitors care staff to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Partner with families, case managers, and on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates new residents’ requests such as podiatry, dental or eye care, sending relevant information to medical offices and to Healthdrive, creating schedules for dental/eye exams

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists with activities such as bathing, dressing, changing bed linens, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
  • Ensure that all staff are Maintain a proper shower schedule for all residents.
  • Entering all incidents, issues, and behaviors in EHRs correctly and timely and communicating with the Program Manager on all incidents that did occur.
  • Schedule transportation to and from appointments and/or outings.
  • Reports signs, symptoms and/or needs of residents to appropriate medical personnel and Program Manager.
  • Counting all medication, disposing of, and distributing as needed and per company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate number of staff are scheduled for each shift. Complete any shift change forms, missed punch forms are completed and given to the Program Manager.
  • First point of contact to ensure that each shift is covered, according to care plans.
  • Reports complaints and issues to the Program Manager, if applicable and as directed.
  • Grocery shopping and household items for the homes and staying within the budget provided by the Program Manager.
  • scan in all receipts to the Program Manager by the end of your shift.
  • Accompanies ambulatory residents/participants outside home, serving as guide, companion and aide.
  • Engages residents/participants in recreational, educational, social, or spiritual experiences of choice through activities such as reading aloud, writing, making crafts, word processing, or playing games with resident/participant.

Works with Program Manager to develop and coordinate behavior plans and outcome measurements for residents/participants.

  • Maintains a cooperative relationship with families and guardians of residents/participants, as well as with team-members.
  • Maintains residents rights by assuring quality cares, monitoring of others, health, safety and welfare, client behaviors, reporting necessary changes, following behavior plans, care plans, and reporting violations to Program Manager.
  • Quality Assurance through DQA by familiarizing self with HFS 88, resident rights, grievance procedures, fire safety, and state licenses.
  • Responsible for compliance documentation which includes emergency procedures, fire evacuation plans, monthly fire extinguisher testing/inspection, changing furnace filters, thermostat batteries, water temperatures, emergency phone numbers.
  • Assures all charting is up-to-date and uploaded into EHRS. (Charting includes progress notes from Doctors, activity logs, behavior tracking, medical records, weight charts, menus, blood sugar and blood pressure tracking, fluid intake tracking.)
  • Responsible for scanning all end of the month Behavior Tracking paperwork to Program Manager.
  • Responsible for residents medications by assuring all medications are in stock and administered without error, reorders meds, checks-in meds, monitors expiration dates, ensures meds are locked and stored per DQA standards.
  • Assures each resident has an adequate supply of clothes for the season, marks clothing with resident’s initials, and maintains personal inventory of resident’s items.
  • Ensuring grocery budget is managed and groceries last for the month
  • Ensures residents always have access to their money
  • Tracks all receipts for money spent by a resident
  • Ensures resident’s accounts are ready and accurate for monthly audit.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining cleaning checklist for resident’s home. Responsible for assuring that house is clean and orderly every day.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with families and guardians of residents/participants, as well as with team-members of CTL.
  • Completes documentation, assists with maintaining files, and assists with paperwork.
  • Represent CTL in a professional manner at all times.
  • Support your supervisor and leadership to be successful at all times
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.

  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on enhancing the customer experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams; multilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
