CTS Cement is searching for a Plant Manager who will oversee the company’s daily operations of our facility located in 2513 W 140th Place Blue Island, IL 60406. This is a full-time, position that reports to the Director of Operations, Central Region. Responsibilities and requirements are shown below.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure Safety of on-site personnel and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure Environmental adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure Quality of all products shipped meets both external and internal specifications.
- Ensure proper Customer Service.
- Ensure HR Program is fully implemented and personnel are properly managed.
- Ensure appropriate utilization of company equipment and assets.
- Ensure Plant is meeting Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Annual performance and budget goals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take a personal interest in personal and team safety. Continuously look for ways to improve safety and assist others to the same.
- Utilize all safety equipment, personal or otherwise, required by the company and follow all company guidelines safety standards. Conduct plant wide safety meetings as scheduled.
- Create and Publish Weekly Production and Staffing Schedules
- Facilitate morning Kick-off Meetings at start of each shift with entire crew – outlining goals and activities of the day
- Review and address any outstanding safety / environment / quality issues
- Ensure plant housekeeping standards are met
- Review & coordinate day and week’s production goals for each area
- Maintain accurate inventory of finished goods, raw materials, parts, supplies; place orders as needed
- Oversee Quality program and implementation
- Coordinate Maintenance program and ensure Daily / Weekly / Monthly Inspection program is effective
- Effectively communicate with Corporate Office, Vendors, Contractors, Suppliers, and Customers – emails, phone calls, etc.
- Track plant costs and operate within budget constraints
- Address poor employee performance through progressive discipline as needed
- Be a visible and routine presence in all areas of the operation
- This job may require shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled hours. Employee may have work schedule adjusted on short notice
- Perform any and all tasks assigned by management
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field required
· Ability to coach and manage to effectively drive improved results and strengthen the operations team
· A Experience in Manufacturing
· Experience with safety programs, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, MRP systems
· Good mechanical aptitude and comfortable working with industrial equipment
· Strong organization and communication skills
· Self-starter and works well independently
· Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to dust. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting and artificial lighting. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Pay: $77,187.00 - $100,000.00 per year
