Summary:
Perform tasks necessary to balance and update general ledger and subsidiary accounts, maintain and reconcile daily cash accounts, and manage other accounting-related duties. Prepare various accounting and financial reports as requested.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare and enter daily and monthly general ledger transactions. Analyze and reconcile general ledger for various accounts, reviewing and verifying the accuracy of entries and accounting classifications.
- Responsible for month end closing, audit ready reconciliations, monthly account analysis, balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets maintenance, accounts payable, financial statements, and management level reporting. Prepares income and balance sheet statements and various other accounting statements and reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as requested by management.
- Prepare, pay, and file all accounts payable for the credit union. Research and resolve discrepancies.
- Process invoices and corporate card reconciliations ensuring proper expense classification.
- Research and adjust all open items, cash imbalances, and variances.
- Set-up and run all prepaid and fixed asset items in the depreciation program.
- Analyze, review, and synthesize all reports from core systems and third-party providers to ensure accuracy.
- Perform loan portfolio accounting functions and maintain all general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations related to Credit Union loan portfolios.
- Prepare GL entries and reports related to participation loans and loans sold on the secondary market in a timely and accurate manner.
- Balance the subsidiary reports to the general ledger control.
- Ensure all entries for capitalization and amortization of deferred fees, mortgage servicing rights, provision for loan losses, interest accruals, and vendor accruals are recorded in accordance with GAAP.
1. Proficient working knowledge of accrual accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
2. Proficiency in current version of Microsoft Office Suite
3. Quick learner of software - for use of Credit Union or other computer-based accounting systems

- Possesses high level of discretion and the ability to handle confidential information concerning members as well as staff
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education requirement.
- Five or more years of accounting and/or financial experience within a financial institution preferably within a credit union or bank.
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and experience with complex financial analysis and modeling. (Preferred)
- Complete schedules related to loan portfolios and financials for the NCUA quarterly Call Report, annual external audit, and NCUA examinations.
- Prepare the credit union’s tax returns.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
