We are seeking a motivated Education Specialist to join our Audit, Compliance & Education team.
This job can be performed 100% remotely and out of state candidates will be considered.
The Medical Coding & Regulatory Education Specialist will primarily focus on the content creation of educational materials related to coding and documentation requirements as directed by Federal and State requirements as well as the AMA. Other duties may also include coding and regulatory education to all attending Physicians, Residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and learners involved with the billing for professional services, as needed.
Job Duties:
Under the direction of leadership design, create, revise and update education materials in Articulate, Panopto, Word and PowerPoint.
Provide education on new and revised coding and billing regulations for Federal and State entities.
Provide new hire compliance training for Coding Services.
Communicate and problem solve with Administrators, Physicians, and Managers, on specific documentation issues and/or training requests.
Conduct follow-up reviews after initial training, determine if additional education is necessary and provide any additional training once identified as a need.
As needed, provide educational sessions for Physicians, Residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and learners involved in billing for inpatient, surgical, emergency department and physician directed evaluation and management (E/M). These sessions may be for new physicians, coding/documentation requirements or sessions to present new information to include yearly updates and changes in requirements as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current changes and trends in the healthcare industry.
Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration (or related field) or equivalent/relevant work experience required.
CPC or CCS required.
CPMA certification is a plus (must be obtained within 1 year of hire).
3- 5 yrs of medical coding experience required.
Surgical or pathology experience a plus.
High level understanding of adult education and eLearning are highly preferred.
The ability to speak comfortably and effectively in front of large audiences is essential to success.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate an ability to establish workload priorities and balance multiple and diverse projects at a time.
