What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Coding Apprentice Program (CPC-A required) position at CU Medicine?

We are seeking 3 motivated individuals with CPC-A certification to complete a 6 week Apprentice Program within our Revenue Services department. This is a 100% remote program and all necessary equipment will be provided to participants for use through the duration of the 6-week session.
Preference will be given to individuals residing in Colorado, but out of state applicants will also be considered.
The 6-week session is scheduled to start on Monday, March 24, 2025 and will run through Friday, May 2, 2025.
Over the course of 6 weeks, the selected participants will gain exposure to all facets of CU Medicine’s Revenue Services departments though training sessions and work activities/tasks.
Program Structure:
Participants will spend time with each of the following departments:
Registration
Coding Services
Accounts Receivable Resolution
Patient Services
Revenue Operations
Each apprentice will also complete a comprehensive orientation to the operations of CU Medicine in order to develop basic skills in revenue cycle management and gain a better understanding of academic healthcare, the faculty practice plan and its related entities.
The apprentice will work full-time (Monday-Friday, 40hrs/wk)
Location: 100% remote
This is a paid apprenticeship ($18.81/hr)
The goal of the Apprentice program is to expose potentially qualified individuals to the CU Medicine environment, provide hands-on learning experiences and ultimately identify individuals for future opportunities within the organization.

The ideal candidates will have completed a formal Medical Billing & Coding program in recent years and/or have familiarity working in a medical billing office or clinic setting. Must have a CPC-A certification to be considered. Must display professional verbal and written communication skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is well organized and understands the importance of dependability and punctuality. Must demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information. Requires the ability to maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and established production metrics. Excellent interpersonal skills are imperative to success.
