Agriculture Plant Science Part-Time Instructor Pool

Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Agriculture Plant Science instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Business Education Division. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for Agriculture or Agriculture Production/Ornamental Horticulture (see below). 

Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the North County Campus.

To be considered for the Agriculture discipline: 

Required:

-Master’s in agriculture, agriculture science, education with a specialization in agriculture or other agricultural area (including: agricultural business, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, Agriculture agronomy, animal science, enology, environmental (ornamental) horticulture, equine science, forestry, natural resources, plant science, pomology, soil science, viticulture or other agriculture science); 

OR

-The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website or see further information on Equivalency Petition Process Information below.)

OR

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).

To be considered for the Agricultural Production/Ornamental Horticulture discipline: 

Required:

-Any Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; 

OR

OR

-The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website or see further information on Equivalency Petition Process Information below.)

OR

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).

Also Required: 

-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable:

-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;

-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
