Job Goals:

  • To provide technical support for computer hardware and software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or Technical College graduate preferred.
  • Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Experience with Microsoft Desktop and server operating systems.
  • Experience with Chromebooks and Google Workspace.
  • Proficiency in technical reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applications including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Internet, and networked applications.
  • Experience with basic network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience in hardware configuration and upgrades.
  • Experience in software installation and configurations.
  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Supports computer installation, maintenance, and repair at all schools and the central office.
  • Completes work orders on priority basis.
  • Maintains maintenance and repair records.
  • Installs server and client based applications.
  • Performs data security and backup procedures.
  • Assists network administrators, technology integration facilitators, and school technology coordinators as required.
  • Supports technology training activities as required.
  • Assists with maintaining schools’ technology inventory and technology department spare parts inventory.
  • Performs hardware and software upgrades; this includes downloading security patches and monitoring anti-virus software.
  • Supports the test and evaluation of new technologies as directed.
  • Provides e-mail and phone support.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Models and maintains high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
  • Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment/Salary: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
