What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM Clerk III - Cancer Registrar position at Cullman Regional?
Job Summary:
- Perform release of information as needed.
- Perform individual clerk duties (i.e. death certificate, chart assembly, analysis, final, loose sheets, delinquent chart count, scanning, chart audits, quality scanning reviews).
- Identify reportable cancer cases by referencing primary and secondary sources including ICD-10-CM diagnostic index and pathology reports.
- Abstract cancer registry data including patient demographics, diagnosis, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and related information from the medical record.
- Code cancer cases as required by state law.
- Assist in all clerical areas in the medical record department as needed.
- Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
- Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
Education:
Associate's degree in health information technology, applied science, or business administration.
Experience:
6- 12 months of office work in medical field preferred, along with experience with the cancer registry.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Basic analytical skills; strong computer skills; ability to multitask; detail oriented; ability to work with numbers and files; good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
