Title: Public Relations & Promotions Internship
Status: Unpaid, Part Time
Reports to: Brian Waites, CEO
Objective: To understand and participate in publicity and promotions for a record label through local campaigns for Cult 9 Records' leading artist, Heroux.
Cult 9 Records is an independent record label based in Roanoke, Virginia, we are currently seeking someone to join our team as a publicity and promotions intern. This individual will assist with the overall public relations needs of our artist Heroux through producing, disseminating, and archiving all marketing and promotional materials, managing fan engagement, and coordinating event preparations.
The publicity and promotions intern will primarily focus on live events, tour, press coverage, and digital marketing opportunities for Heroux, as well as some managing of Heroux’s social media presence and web content. The internship will provide hands-on experience with the various duties and responsibilities required to execute successful artist marketing campaigns.
Job Responsibilities
The intern will work under the supervision of Brian who is responsible for Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations functions for Heroux.
Responsibilities include:
- Creation and dissemination of all press and marketing materials for Heroux, including physical packages, electronic press kits, electronic art, e-vites, and promotional materials.
- Assist in preparing and working Heroux's events; including concerts, meet-and-greets, album launches, and other special events.
- Track and archive media coverage, generate press and promotions reports for Heroux's activities.
- Maintain media contacts and fan databases specific to Heroux.
- Reach out to influencers and micro-influencers to promote Heroux's music and build relationships.
- Create and assist Heroux with social media content (flyers, social graphics, video, GIFs, etc) and corresponding copy.
- Miscellaneous administrative tasks related to Heroux's marketing initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Currently in pursuit of associate's, bachelor's, or graduate degree at a Virginia college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
- Preferred degree of study in marketing, public relations, communications, or closely related field.
- Must be enthusiastic about working in the music industry
- Individual should be able to craft and execute a vision with creativity and style
- Multi-tasker and creative self-starter with high energy who is comfortable with taking initiative and working in collaboration
- Must have effective and engaging communication skills and excellent writing skills.
- Ability to communicate well with others and maintain a professional demeanor
- Must have access to a laptop.
Compensation
Internships for Cult 9 Records are unpaid, but we understand your time is valuable and aim to make this a worthwhile investment in your future. We offer a great deal of hands-on experience, and college credit is available upon request and school approval. Interns will gain and/or improve upon his or her:
- Artist-specific public relations, publicity and promotional skills
- Understanding of artist management and promotion
- General communications, marketing, and organizational skills
- Gain hands on experience with music industry public relations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, artist-focused environment
