Director Project Finance

Cultivate Power
San Francisco, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 2/3/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/2/2025

Cultivate Power is seeking a driven and intellectually curious candidate as a Director of Project Finance. This person will lead project sale and project financing deals, make investment recommendations based on valuation analysis, and have the opportunity to manage select corporate finance activities (such as corporate debt financing, capital planning, tax strategies, etc).

The Director will embody Cultivate’s entrepreneurial spirit. Over time the Director will identify and lead new value creation opportunities, which could range from unlocking accretive financing, project M&A opportunities, new business line opportunities, and more.

The Director’s core project sales activities will involve running NTP-ready community solar project portfolio sales auctions, managing negotiations and sales counterparty relationships, and running the sales process from diligence through closing. For project financings, the Director will build relationships with lenders and tax equity investors and manage the financing of community solar portfolios.

The Director will also work closely with Cultivate’s Development Market Leads to analyze valuation scenarios for projects in Cultivate’s markets, informing development investment decisions. The Director will have the ability to model project valuation scenarios independently when needed. For corporate finance activities, the Director will learn how to run a medium-sized business from a strategic, capitalization, and financial operations perspective. The Director will have the opportunity to own and lead specific portions of corporate finance such as corporate debt, tax investments, and semi-annual capital planning processes.

A great candidate is excited to work across multiple finance functions : project sales / financing, valuation / investment decisioning, and corporate finance. In bigger companies, these represent three distinct finance functions, but at Cultivate, we see significant synergies and value creation by combining these responsibilities across all finance team members. We are a dynamic company where everyone models, everyone drives value creating new ideas, and everyone “takes out the trash” (from time-to-time).

This role will accelerate a Director forward in an entrepreneurial career in renewables investing, financing, and development.
