What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESIDENCE COUNSELOR position at Cumberland County Guidance Center?
Dynamic Opportunity~ As a full-time employee, working 37.5 hour per week, as a Residence Counselor you will provide counseling, guidance and advocacy to clients with behavioral health issues. These clients reside in 4 various residential settings, and the counselor plays a key role in their daily support and development.
The Guidance Center~ is a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care for individuals and families with mental health needs in the greater Cumberland County, NJ area. For more than 60 years, our non-profit organization of professionals, doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, has assisted the community in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of mental illness.
What does this position look like~ A Residence Counselor maintains progress and activities records. Develops and implements social, recreational and educational activities for clients. Communicates observations and information about the client to the treatment team. Additionally, you will provide transportation and accompany clients to community resources and appointments, ensuring that their external needs are met with consistent support. On-site services will include day-to-day emotional and practical assistance, helping residents manage their personal challenges while promoting their independence.
What you need to apply~
- A High School diploma or the equivalent, plus four years of related work or life experience
- Knowledge of community resources and agencies
- Valid automobile driver's license with MVR which meets agency standards.

- Shift(s) 4:00PM to 12:00AM, 12:00AM to 8:00AM, 8:00AM to 4:00PM(typically on weekends)
