Position Overview

In this role, you will play a critical part in preparing library materials for public and staff use while ensuring accuracy in financial and catalog records within the Integrated Library System (ILS). Examples of Duties
- Physically process materials for use by staff and the public (labeling, taping, stamping, applying security devices, etc.)
- Create item records in the ILS (bar codes, item classification, price, location, circulation parameters, etc.)
- Sort materials for distribution to the appropriate library branch
- Unpack and check shipments against packing slips; receive materials electronically as shipments come in
- Create invoices and vouchers for payment of materials received
- Check new materials for defects and return defective materials following the vendor’s established protocols
- Reconcile paper and electronic invoices and submit to administration on a regular basis
Minimum Qualifications
Management Preference: Public Library experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of ILS software and related computer programs, with the ability to learn and adapt as needed
- Knowledge of the ILS cataloging system with the ability to develop a working understanding of its functions, including basic familiarity with acquisitions and circulation modules
- Skill in verbal communication and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work within short time limits and process and distribute materials efficiently
- Skill in organization and efficiency to effectively manage tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to address criticism or questions with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to treat people with respect, work with integrity, and uphold organizational values
Conditions of Employment:
