Join our dynamic team as a Child Support Agent II, where you'll embark on a journey-level role within one of our three specialized program units: Enforcement, Establishment, or Intergovernmental. As a key member, you'll manage substantial caseloads, offering essential Child Support services including paternity and support order establishment, as well as enforcement. Examples of Duties
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, human resources, paralegal, accounting, or other closely related degree and 6 months of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in business administration, human resources, paralegal, accounting, or other closely related degree and 2 ½ years of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or graduation from high school and 4 1/2 years of experience in areas of child support, social services eligibility, investigations, legal, or finance that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Additional Requirements
Successful completion of Basic Math, Reading Comprehension, Spelling and Basic Word tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.
A formal transcript will be required. College transcripts may be submitted on-line via the attachment feature or mailed to Cumberland County Human Resources, 117 Dick St. Fayetteville, NC 28301.
Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment. Examples of Duties
- Provide mandated child support services which include location of noncustodial parents, administrative and judicial establishment of paternity and support orders
- Work involves gathering evidence, drafting legal orders, computation of the appropriate child support amount using NC Child Support Guidelines
- Determining proper course of action and assisting the staff attorney with preparation for court as well as presenting cases with the staff attorney in the courtroom
