- Assists customers (of all ages) in person and by phone at various public service desks where information and readers' advisory service is required
- Staffs a public services point
- Performs basic troubleshooting of library equipment and trains others in the use of resources and equipment
- Performs proactive reference at the service desk
- Assists customers with information and technology resources
- Participates in collection maintenance, including weeding and discarding items
Management Preferences

- Knowledge of library procures, collection management, library systems and services
- Knowledge of readers' advisory methods and sources
- Ability and knowledge to provide basic library reference services and other customer assistance
- Ability to instruct customers on use of equipment, public computer reservation software, and self-checkout as needed and where applicable
- Ability to develop and present programs for specific age groups as assigned
- Ability to use computers, competently manipulate keyboard and spell accurately
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
