Position Overview
Examples of Duties
- Assist citizens with the permit application process by providing guidance and facilitating the submission of required documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact by answering phone inquiries, greeting visitors, and responding to email correspondence in a professional and timely manner.
- Accurately enter permit applications into the records management system, process applications, and maintain detailed records.
- Review applications for completeness, conduct background checks when necessary, draft notification letters, compile approval packets, and perform research to support approval or denial decisions.
- Collect permit payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily transactions while resolving any discrepancies.
- Upon supervisor approval, issue permits and communicate next steps, applicable rules, laws, and regulations to applicants to ensure compliance.

- Knowledge of the assigned department function and purpose with ability to communicate that mission to others in the department and the public
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the assigned work area
- Knowledge and ability to use official business practices
- Knowledge of data analytics and ability to develop reports
- Knowledge of punctuation, grammar, spelling, and arithmetic
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and standard clerical techniques
- Knowledge of County policies procedures and programs
- Skilled in the use of popular and specialized computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Ability to communicate effectively and to conduct the department’s business in person, by telephone, and email
- Ability to gather and give information and instructions based on program knowledge and research
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other departments in County government
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and function successfully in a fast-paced environment
