Position Overview
Examples of Duties
- Independently represent the County and the Planning and Inspections department as the assigned planner assisting town governments as assigned with planning and zoning
- Respond to public contact via walk-in, telephone and email, explains procedures, rules and processes to individuals who desire to initiate or revise existing land development or to inform the property owner/development the possible avenues for correcting issues or violations existing on their property
- Review rezoning application for completeness and accuracy and discusses the plans with the applicant to ensure the requested zoning will allow the intended use and is consistent with adopted plans and policies
- Work on projects, planning or research assigned by Planning Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of community and economic development and public sector planning and/or landscape design
- Knowledge of governmental laws, programs, and services pertinent to the community and economic development and planning processes
- Knowledge of GIS systems including application of software, hardware and peripherals to planning needs
