OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB :
To assess / investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect and provide supportive services to children and families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB :
Provides casework services to families and children.Assesses risk and safety of children at regular intervals as per DPW regulations.Investigates allegations of Child / Abuse and Neglect.Develops and implement service plans with clients based on strengths and concerns identified during assessment.Makes referrals to community resources and works collaboratively with providers to assure the needs of the family are being met.Participates in planning for coordination of services.Participates in periodic reviews of services provided to families as required by DPW Regulations.Prepares court documents, attendance at court hearings and testifies to the facts of the case.Maintains contact with all case members as per DPW regulations, through home, field, office or school visits.Maintains accurate documentation in the record by documenting all contacts in the case and keeping the electronic file up to date.Obtains and reviews all records and reports regarding a family.Completes necessary filing and maintenance of records.Maintains statistics and completes required paperwork / reports.Serves as an advocate for children and parents.Utilizes critical thinking and conflict resolution skills to handle crisis situations in the field.OTHER DUTIES OF JOB :
Attends required Foundations training series and upon completion is certified as a Direct Service Worker.Attend at a minimum 20 hours of training yearly to maintain Direct Service Worker Certification. As per Chapter 3140.Performs emergency on-call duty as scheduled.Performs other job-related work as required.May perform substance abuse testing of clients if substance use / abuse is suspected.Minimum Experience and Training :
A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or a bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or other related social sciences.
