We are seeking a certified Electrician Supervisor to join our Internal Services Department. This position is responsible for overseeing and maintaining essential systems within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and supervision, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

  • Install and maintain electrical conduits, fittings, and wiring systems for various services, including electrical, telephone, computer, intercom, and alarm systems. Ensure safe and efficient connections to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical appliances, diagnosing issues and replacing faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, and insulators to restore proper functionality
  • Oversee inventory management for supplies, materials, and equipment, ensuring proper stock levels for assigned buildings
  • Occasionally perform general plumbing and mechanical system maintenance, supporting the team with skilled and semi-skilled tasks as needed
  • Supervise and mentor electrical staff, leading recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a well-developed and efficient team
  • Delegate tasks and monitor work progress to guarantee compliance with industry and county standards, promoting quality and safety in all operations
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members, fostering growth, boosting morale, and setting clear performance goals for continuous improvement in individual and department performance
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, responding promptly to emergencies and working during adverse weather conditions as required
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with an associate degree with course work emphasis in electrical, electronics, and/or other related maintenance trades and two (2) years of experience in maintenance or building trades work with at least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements: Must have and maintain an Electrical Limited Classification (L) license.   


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the procedures, materials and equipment related to the electrical maintenance trade
  • Knowledge of approved electrical methods, practices, code requirements and safety standards
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards of building trades and grounds maintenance work and the associated safety precautions
  • Knowledge of the procedures, materials and equipment related to the plumbing and HVAC maintenance trades 
  • Knowledge of the principles of organization, administration and supervision
  • Skilled in the use and care of a variety of hand and power tools necessary to perform electrical tasks
  • Ability to adhere to  County purchasing policies and procedures 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to assign, direct and supervise a staff of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled maintenance personnel
  • Ability to stay compliant with OSHA safety standards, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time as required by work assignments
  • Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in contact with the general public
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • Ability to maintain quality communication and interaction with intra-and interdepartmental personnel and any external entities with whom position interacts
  • Ability to recognizes and understand the relationship between operating policies and practices and morale and performance
  • Ability to move decisively and explicitly to develop and implement alternatives

Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. If your driver's license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.

Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment.
