To assist various Library System departments by performing functions related to the processing of library materials and entering of computer data.
Job Title: Library Assistant
Classification: Library Processing Clerk
Work Hours: This position will work 22.5 to 30 hours per week
Starting Salary: $16.00 an hour
5-Factor Grade: 101
Position Code: LI8002
Current county employees will follow the county's promotion/demotion policy.
Responsibilities
- Receives and processes library materials acquired by the library system for circulation to the public in a timely manner; may include preparing and repairing library materials by covering, laminating, packaging and labeling items.
- Organizes, retrieves and prioritizes items for delivery.
- Maintains the processing supply inventory.
- Instructs and oversees the work of processing volunteers.
- Performs data entry to support bibliographic database maintenance.
- Maintains and compiles statistical reports documenting activities of the collection services department.
- Performs receptionist functions, such as answering the phone, greeting visitors, posting mail, etc.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years’ work experience with library experience preferred.
