POSITION SUMMARY
The Recovery Coach / Resident Peer Care Manager supports the overall interdisciplinary plan of care for a resident from admission to discharge and through the first 6 months of recovery post-commencement. The Recovery Coach / Resident Peer Care Manager develops a recovery-oriented relationship with the resident, family, and referents during and following the immersion experience, fostering a climate of trust and honest communication. The Recovery Coach / Resident Peer Care Manager builds on the recovery work accomplished during the residential immersion experience by coaching the graduate in their early recovery.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
The Recovery Coach serves as a Care Manager for the alumni post-commencement from the residential immersion program, by helping the alumni to integrate their 12-step program into the alumni’s day-to-day lifeHas weekly and bi-weekly face-to-face meetings with alumni to see where they are in their recovery plan and changes that need to be made to help insure long-term recovery.Make weekly and bi-weekly contacts with families and referents to update them on the alumni’s progress and struggles, with recommended interventions if needed.Administer random drug screens to alumniIntervene if alumni struggles or relapses and attempt to get the alumni into a higher level of care.Meets face-to-face with the resident while at Still Waters for an initial orientation about the Recovery Coaching Program features and goals.Builds resident trust through personal interactions presented with empathy, understanding, open dialog, and supportive recovery principles.Consults with alumni on their current living environment with a focus on strengths and the identification of existing recovery capital, or assets that can be developed in support of recovery.Assists the Program Director, Program Coordinator, Executive Director, primary care manager, resident peer counselors and other Still Waters team members by collaborating with the resident, alumni, and family in support of specific recovery goals, objectives, and recovery plans.Conducts informational presentations about Recovery Coaching Services to groups of residents and alumni as needed and deemed appropriate by the program coordinator or directorDevelops guidelines for follow-up contacts and support post-commencement.Intervene and schedules appointments to other healthcare providers as needed, especially in cases where new issues arise for the alumni post-commencementConducts scheduled and as needed post-commencement contact with alumni, utilizing telephonic, and in-person contacts.Also serves in the capacity of a Recovery Care Advocate, working closely with that department.Appropriately documents all personal interactions in the designated manner.Resident Peer Counselor Duties :
Promotes a safe and healing environment for each alumni and family throughout the continuum of care. Coordinates the resident’s entry into the Still Waters program, including orientation to the environment, program, and resident community.Meets with the resident to obtain a complete life history, working in conjunction with the resident, the family, referral source, and Still Waters team, to create an individual program plan and goals.Facilitates individual peer support counseling and family peer support counseling as appropriate.Facilitates peer support groups with assigned residents as directed.Collaborates with the SW staff, residents, and family as appropriate, on a variety of program activities, including the practicing of daily life skills and leisure skills within a 12 Step environment, in order to achieve program and individual residential goals.Utilizing CPI, intervenes in crises to deescalate situations and resolve crises, using events as entries into the recovery process for residents.Coordinates with River Road campus admissions, patient registration, financial advisors, and accounts receivable personnel as needed to coordinate those aspects of the resident’s stay.Makes recommendations for resident extensions of stay and secures those with resident and family approval, working closely with financial advisors.Coordinates the resident’s care with the various off-site providers for medical, psychiatric, or other social needs as appropriate.Acts as a liaison between the Still Waters’ team, the marketing team, and referral sources, keeping them abreast of resident progress and continuing care needs through verbal and written communication, as well as meetings as needed.Collaborates with the resident, family as appropriate, resident peer counselors and entire program team in developing the continuing care plan, including securing any necessary post-commencement appointments and placements.Documents pertinent information into the resident record.Participates in team meetings and milieu review and management as needed.Performs CPR and First Aid as needed.Represents the Still Waters program and Cumberland Heights at a variety of community and professional meetings, including presentations and marketing / business development activities as assigned.Participates in quality improvement activities as directed.Ensures that a welcoming, safe and healing environment is maintained for each resident and family throughout the continuum of care.Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of servicesEnsures proper handling and distribution of company fundsMaintains confidentiality of company and alumni information.Reacts productively to change.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements :
High school diploma or GED required with Bachelor’s degree preferredCurrent Tennessee drivers' license in good standing requiredMinimum of two (2) years of recovery experience including current and active application of 12 steps principles.Excellent interviewing, observational, and interpersonal skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read and write in English; second language, particularly Spanish a plusProficient with basic computer skills, Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook)Ability to learn clinical software programs and use office equipment (printer, copier, fax, etc.)Organizational skills for managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and assignmentsAbility to teach, model and use evidence -based counseling practices in support of Twelve Step philosophyAbility to skillfully adapt to changing circumstances and patient needs.Ability to be open and culturally humble to a wide variety of patients’ experiences that may be outside the counselor’s own, including the full span of human development.Knowledge of signs / symptoms of intoxication / withdrawal of alcohol and common drugs of abuse and general options for treatmentAbility to apply information regarding cultural / age / population specific characteristics to the patients in the assigned area;Ability to deescalate a person in crisis in a calm and supportive manner and to teach sameMinimum of two years recovery requiredWORK ENVIRONMENT :
Position is in an office, group room, or larger community settings that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.Position requires frequent contact with people in crisis, including those who are emotionally volatile and may require additional safety precautions.May perform CPR / First Aid as needed (being certified or eligible is required)Position is subject to long hours and may be subject to rotating on-call responsibilities, including weekends as well as staying overnight for inclement weather as part of critical staffing, and some travel.Ability to lift up to 20lbs and / or push pull up to 40lbs; move around campus on uneven and rural terrain.Ability to speak, hear, see, sit, walk, stand, reach and use fine / gross motor skills
