Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist assists clients in the Doors of Hope program by helping to solve a variety of life-skill challenges, specifically relating to recovery from substance abuse. This position requires facilitating recovery classes, groups, and individual meetings to help clients with substance abuse disorders avoid relapse and build life skills. The CPRS serves as a client advocate on treatment team.

Reports to: LADAC I or LADAC II
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintains a peer relationship with clients
- Conduct intake meetings and new client orientations as it pertains to recovery
- Meet with clients on a regular basis to set individualized goals and objectives
- Document individual and group encounters in a timely manner
- Monitor client progress, document and share notes with team members
- Assist with random drug screens
- Provides education and motivation for clients’ successful step-work/recovery work through recovery led groups and/or individual encounters
- Teach, model, and coach clients in recovery skills needed to maintain a healthy life in recovery (employment, housing, self-care, relationships)
- Teach, model, and coach clients in skills needed for self-management of SUD/mental health symptoms and prevention of relapse
- Share unique perspective on recovery from mental illness or SUD by sharing from personal experience, strength and hope, when appropriate
- Assist in identifying triggers and ways to cope with triggers/urges
- Assist in setting goals and developing a personal relapse prevention/recovery plan.
- Provide accountability/coaching for clients, relating to step-work, obtaining a sponsor, attending meetings, assignments, service work, etc.
- Serves as a member of Treatment Team
- Meets weekly with supervisor
- Assist with client corrective action plan, as needed
- Provide recovery-related programming/classes to clients
- Participate in continuing education classes and supervision as required to maintain certification
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist; Documentation required
- Maintained minimum of two years of sobriety in recovery
- 1-2 years of experience preferred as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
- Must have a valid Driver's License
OTHER SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of 12-Step/Recovery programs
- Ability to respectfully engage with diverse populations
- Ability to prioritize workload and work independently
- Ability to set and maintain firm boundaries with clients
- Excellent organization skills
- Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and work well with others

WORKING CONDITIONS
Full-Time: 36hrs/week
Salary: $37,000-$42,000 annually, based on experience
Work Remotely: Remote work arrangements are flexible and will be determined through individual discussions based on role requirements and supervisor approval.
