Description
Position Purpose:
Responsible for the organizations book-keeping and financial reporting for all companies. The Controller oversees the accounting, monitoring, and implementation of internal financial controls and processes.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts and various operational reports on a regular basis.
- Responsible for the monthly closing of the books.
- Responsible for the monthly account reconciliations.
- Overseeing and coordinating the accounting, administrative and clerical staff activities to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Responsible for increasing proficiency and knowledge by staff of dealer management software.
- Ensure that office policies and procedures are being followed.
- Responsible for performance evaluations and compensation for the office staff.
- Ensuring that there is fiscal responsibility and internal controls within the companys operations.
- Responsible for the inventory control and floor plan management monthly.
- Correspond with senior management on financial and administrative matters.
- Process all tax payments and reconciliations.
- Aid other departments with accounting questions and opportunities as needed.
- Ensures a professional appearance and a neat work environment for office staff.
- Any other duties that are assigned by management. Flexibility is necessary to meet the business needs of the company.
Qualifications
Qualifications for the position:
- 3 years of related experience and/or training in accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 year College Degree in Accounting is required. A Masters and CPA certification is a plus.
- Truck, automobile or equipment dealership experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Procede software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills internally and externally.
- Be able to multi-task and meet deadlines, when necessary.
- Possess the skills to promote and maintain a positive work environment.
- PC skills required along with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively through use of e-mail.
- Must be self-motivated and have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must conduct his / her self in a professional manner.
- Have the ability and flexibility to work other shifts as necessary.
- Possess a good understanding of business operations from an accounting point of view.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- Be able to sit at a desk for a period of time during the work day.
- Be able to communicate electronically (e-mail, etc.) and verbally to internal and external customers.
- Be able to speak on the phone and type on the keyboard in an efficient manner.
