Job Summary
The Charge Nurse plays a vital role in providing quality care to residents to maintain or regain physical, mental, and emotional well-being through quality of care and quality of life tasks. This position works closely with other healthcare professionals to support our resident’s needs and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by certified nurse aides and certified medication aides.
Qualifications
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a RN or LPN in Kansas
· CPR Certified
· Proficiency in IV infusion and phlebotomy procedures is desirable
· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, dementia training
- Compassionate and patient
Duties:
· Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
· Assist with daily living activities for residents
· Participate in pain management strategies for residents
· Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift
· Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift; Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
· Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect
· Review the resident’s clinical record for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, etc., as necessary
· Review care plans daily to ensure that appropriate care is being rendered
· Communicate with physicians and other health care professionals
· Provides emotional and spiritual support to residents.
· Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents, family members, personnel and support agencies
· Assists other nursing personnel as needed; Complete any tasks your director or supervisor assigns to you
