What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Teacher position at Cunningham Children's Home?
Our Caminos program is seeking a Head Teacher (Education Coordinator) to provide effective educational leadership, program design / development, outcome-based progress while promoting standards of trauma informed care for clients, families, and staff.
The Caminos Program provides safe, secure placement options for children who have recently migrated to the United States seeking opportunities for reunification with family and the chance to pursue their education and immigration cases. Due to the varied length of stay of the students, this is a year-round school.
Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with or willingness to learn and follow the Office of Refugee Resettlement Policy and Procedures relating to the care and supervision of Unaccompanied Children, particularly the delivery of effective educational services and meeting reporting requirements. This includes knowledge of related legal issues and governing practices related to working with these children.
Candidates should have experience overseeing interventions with students, providing curriculum, instruction, and assessments; monitoring academic and behavioral progress; delivering individualized education services; facilitating extra-curricular activities and managing stakeholder relations. The Education Coordinator provides supervision to the school staff, administrative oversight to the program, and classroom teaching.
Prefer a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, but will consider a Bachelors level with 5 years of school experience as it relates to classroom and supervision. Requires being a certified teacher. A type 75 or administrative endorsement a plus, but not required. At least three years of successful teaching experience and one year of demonstrated supervisory experience. Fluency in both Spanish and English preferred.
