Summary/Objective:
Curative wants to change the view on what a health plan can be. Born out of the pandemic, we created a health plan reinvented for a post-pandemic world that is built around whole-person affordable preventive care featuring more benefits. $0 copays and $0 deductibles when members complete the Baseline Visit within 120 days of enrollment into the Plan. The Population Health Team is responsible for driving improved health outcomes, leveraging a data-first mindset to help our members achieve their optimal health well-being. Within the Population Health team, Care Navigators are at the core of the Curative member-oriented health plan. The Care Navigator team is assigned members to complete their Baseline Visit, help them navigate healthcare, engage in preventative care and partner with them in achieving their health goals.
As a part of Curative’s Population Health team, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Care Navigator Trainer to oversee and be responsible for training and development of our Care Navigation team. This role will be responsible for training the existing team and any new hires on the principles and practices of care navigation, which involves guiding members through the healthcare system by helping to coordinate appointments, explaining and guiding members with their health plan benefits, addressing barriers to care, and ensuring access to necessary services; this role typically involves evaluating and improving processes, developing training materials, delivering workshops and training, and providing ongoing support to care navigators to optimize member experience and outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop and implement training materials, including onboarding, soft skills, technical support, and policy compliance to help the Population Health team resources with their everyday work
- Evaluate current department processes and identify areas for improvement, efficiency, and optimization
- Recommend and revise department processes, ensuring appropriate documentation
- Review the current Care Navigation training program and recommend process changes for how to restructure team members and team processes to support the vision of Population Health and the Care Navigator role

- Ability to develop curriculum, facilitate learning and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve performance and meet operational expectations
- Knowledge of change management processes
- Identify skill gaps and implement training solutions to address them
- Monitor activities within the Population Health organization to ensure adherence to training standards and quality care delivery
- Ability to develop an Inter-rater reliability and/or Quality Assurance program
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a remote environment with the need to have a reliable internet and phone connection
- Must have a quiet place, secure, with no distractions to perform duties for work from home
- Must have password protected, stable internet access - stipend will be provided
- Work location MUST be secure and private to maintain HIPAA compliance for work from home
- Office equipment will be supplied including: PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility for staff but the chosen candidate will need to possess the ability to lead others regardless of direct reporting structure
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time salaried position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time with flexibility as needed to support different time zones. Our headquarters are in Austin, TX so we often operate on Central Time. Training sessions may vary depending on trainee time zones
Travel:
Travel is expected approximately 10% of the time, typically for two annual leadership offsite meetings
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field or 4-5 years related and demonstrable experience in process improvement and training in the healthcare field
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs
- Excellent public speaking, coaching, and facilitation skills
- Experience in performing QA and performance evaluations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience performing the duties of a care navigator/care coordinator/case manager
- Experience working in a health plan
- Specialized training in care navigation principles and effective training methodologies
- Six-sigma process improvement certification
- Training and development certifications (preferred but not required: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance - CPLP, Train-the-Trainer, etc.)
