The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing inspections of incoming chassis, in-process production, and completed chassis to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and customer specifications. This individual will document nonconformance, communicate quality issues to appropriate departments, and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming chassis trucks, ensuring that they meet all electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic quality standards
- Inspect finished chassis trucks
- Perform physical repairs, diagnostic troubleshooting, and corrective action whenever possible
- Maintain logs, records, and other documentation of testing procedures, methodologies, test results, defects identified, and other key metrics related to quality control
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for the QA process
- Communicate with the plant manager when serious product defects or risks arise
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured refuse trucks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Verify conformance to blueprint specifications, tolerances, and quality standards
- Support quality audits and continuous improvement activities
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to resolve quality concerns
- Assist with first article inspections, final inspections, and functional testing as required
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Inspect incoming chassis for defects and ensure chassis is free of defects and damage from shipping
- Inspect, measure, and document new chassis for Engineering approval
Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, communicate, and understand the English language
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Must be able to use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures accurately
- Must be proficient in documentation and record-keeping
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Previous quality control or inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under minimal supervision
- Must be able to work through interruptions during the work shift
- Familiarity with ISO standards and lean manufacturing is a plus
