Title: Grants Impact Manager

Location: San Diego, CA

Work Environment: hybrid – 3 days in office

POSITION SUMMARY

The Grants Impact Manager will work with the Director, Research Impact to oversee the full grant lifecycle from program launch and application management to implementation, monitoring, and impact evaluation. This role will take a lead in developing and executing flagship and new grant programs, optimizing operations, and enhancing efficiency in delivering on our research funding commitments. This individual will integrate qualitative and quantitative data analysis to assess outcomes and demonstrate the real-world impact of our funding.

The ideal candidate has expertise in grants administration and program evaluation, establishing clear impact metrics to demonstrate Curebound’s contributions. They will collaborate with grantees, internal teams, and external partners to strengthen funding processes, ensure transparency, and enhance efficiency. PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Lifecycle Management (25%)

  • Support Director, Research Impact and collaborate with other Research Team members to refine Curebound’s grant application, peer review, and selection processes.
  • Implement the full grant administration cycle, from Request for Applications (RFAs) to post-award monitoring.
  • Ensure grantee compliance with funding agreements, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to track, manage, and process grant disbursements in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical assistance to grantees and develop support resources, including guides, webinars, FAQs, and one-on-one consultations.

Impact Measurement & Evaluation (30%)

  • Support Director, Research Impact, maintaining an established data-driven framework to assess the impact of research initiatives.
  • In partnership with Curebound leadership and Research Team, develop and implement quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate both immediate and long-term research outcomes.
  • Analyze and synthesize grantee progress reports, generating actionable insights and impact results.
  • Create dynamic visual dashboards and reports to communicate research outcomes to the CEO, Board, donors, leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Work with the marketing team to translate complex research findings into engaging content for public audiences, highlighting key scientific advancements.

Program Management (20%)

  • Serve as project manager for Curebound’s existing and new grant programs, including Discovery Grants, Targeted Grants, Cure Prize, Catalyst, and Equity Grants.
  • Manage program timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Play key role in proposal and implementation of new research programs in partnership with Research Impact Team and SAB, identifying gaps and opportunities in funding strategy.
  • Oversee ongoing relationship management with grantees, fostering engagement and collaboration to maximize research impact.

Operations, Administrative, & Financial Support (20%)

  • Support fundraising and donor engagement by providing the Revenue Generation Team with grant impact summaries, funding insights, and researcher updates.
  • Manage Proposal Central and optimize its use in collaboration with the Research Team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grant records in Salesforce, tracking all funded researchers and peer reviewers.
  • Oversee financial tracking of grants, ensuring compliance with deliverables, reporting deadlines, and beneficiary agreements.
  • Manage research department operations, including scheduling, tracking progress on strategic goals, and coordinating meetings and materials.

Other Duties & Special Projects (5%)

  • Provide on-site and operational support for Curebound events, including Curebound Connects, Concert for Cures, and the Curebound Cancer Challenge.
  • Assist with additional projects and initiatives as assigned.

REQUISITE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years of experience in grants management, research administration, program management, or similar
  • Strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Experience using grant management, data analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Proposal Central, Power Bi, MAXQDA, R)
  • Adept in analyzing complex data sets, identifying trends, and deriving critical insights for informed decision-making and program improvement
  • Organized and highly attentive to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience developing technical reports and stakeholder presentations
  • Knowledge of cancer research trends and nonprofit funding landscapes preferred
  • Degree in public health, biomedical sciences, epidemiology, or related field preferred

COMPENSATION

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the compensation target for this position, exclusive of additional benefits, is $75K. Final base salary will be determined based on factors such as previous experience, specific skills, and/or education. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
