What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Generalist II position at Current Lighting Employee Co LLC?
The Design Engineer will support Current’s Outdoor New Product Innovation (NPI) team by driving the development and implementation of innovative outdoor lighting solutions with a focus on solid state lighting technology. The role involves researching, designing, analyzing, characterizing, and documenting NPI programs to ensure product integrity, quality, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical contributor to the NPI team to deliver new products per specification, including performance, budget and schedule
- Design parts and assemblies for cost efficiency and reliability including the creation of all engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Develop and execute test plans for component and product qualification leading to third-party safety certifications (UL, CSA, DLC, etc.), and documented performance claims
- Document bill of material and variant configurator input for product configuration management
- Collaborate with marketing, sourcing, and the production staff at manufacturing facilities to ensure all projects meet internal and external customer requirements
- Recommend and implement engineering changes to ensure all products meet specifications and adhere to quality standards
- Support engineered-to-order (ETO) products by maintaining accurate designs, bills of materials, and associated documentation
Reporting and Interfacing Relationships:
- This position reports to the department Engineering Manager
- Internally, this position interfaces with Engineers, Engineering Services, Manufacturing, Technical Support, and Warranty Services
Technical Qualifications and Work Experience
- Bachelor's in Engineering or related technical discipline, Master’s a plus
- 7( ) years of engineering experience preferred
- 2( ) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with LED lighting or other electro-mechanical products is highly preferred with Outdoor lighting experience a plus
- Experience designing parts and assemblies for outdoor use in high mix manufacturing a plus. Typical materials are cast aluminum, injection molded plastics, extruded aluminum, glass, optical quality aluminum, or fabricated sheetmetal
- Proficiency in 3D CAD packages including Onshape or Solid Edge or other solid modeling software
- Finite Element Analysis simulation experience is desired
- Familiarity with product safety standards (UL, CSA, etc.)
- Familiarity with engineering change processes, manufacturing workflows, and quality processes

Compensation
The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This salary range is $73,000-$80,000.
