Overview:
The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for managing and developing vendor relationships, both domestic and international. This role ensures that all sourced products meet established quality standards and design specifications, while supporting the company’s product development and supply chain strategy. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, experience in manufacturing or furniture sourcing, and a keen eye for quality and detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and evaluate current vendor relationships while identifying and onboarding new sourcing partners both domestically and internationally.
- Determine the most appropriate vendors based on product construction techniques, material capabilities, lead times, and capacity to meet quality and cost objectives.
- Establish and implement clear quality metrics and performance standards for vendors.
- Communicate product-specific design standards, material specifications, and construction details to suppliers to ensure production accuracy.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to align sourcing activities with product timelines and innovation goals.
- Monitor vendor performance and conduct periodic assessments including factory visits, sample reviews, and production audits.
- Work closely with internal teams to communicate & manage changes to product designs and ensure timely implementation with suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Support risk management efforts by identifying supply chain disruptions and developing contingency sourcing plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to sourcing, vendor communication, and quality compliance.
- Support & manage all other duties and responsibilities to be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, supply chain, business / mgmt., construction or related field
- 5 years of sourcing/procurement experience, ideally in the furniture industry
- Experience with domestic & import vendors specific to casegoods & upholstery
- Knowledge of furniture construction, materials, quality standards and general processes
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity and proficiency in most Microsoft applications: word, excel, PowerPoint, email, etc.
