We are looking for a Failure Analyst/Metallurgical Engineer to join our Lansing, NY team!
Our Failure Analyst/Metallurgical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment.
You will prepare test samples, assess customer parts per specifications, and conduct failure analysis.
As our Failure Analyst/Metallurgical Engineer, you will work in our metallurgical team at our IMR Test Lab.
Salary: $80,000-85,000

Your Challenge
- Conduct failure analysis and write failure reports.
- Perform technical analysis in the metallurgy department, with a focus on quality assurance, R&D, material identification and failure analysis for industrial clients.
- Analyze samples using a variety of analytical techniques including the use of a broad spectrum of instrumentation and/or specialty area testing disciplines.
- Organize projects for standardized testing and develop test plans, and schedules for special projects.
- Ability to interpret customer and industry specifications to ensure the correct testing is performed. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through regular customer interactions.
- Train, monitor, and coordinate assigned activities of other laboratory personnel in the areas of test set up, sample preparation and date collection to ensure that IMR's quality and safety standards are met.
- Coordinate with customers and make final decisions on how to fix customer problems and finalize reports.
- Conduct testing in house with customer presence.
- Travelling as needed (up to 10%).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required: Metallurgy or Material Sciences) Master's Degree is an asset.
- 5-7 years of related work or project experience.
- Laboratory experience.
