Summary

Develop expertise to perform loan processing, set-up, and follow-up (servicing) responsibilities associated with the granting of credit to the Bank's borrowers. Incumbents at this level will learn to successfully prepare and follow-up on loan documents. Responsible to support the bank’s strategic objectives by performing duties to the highest of standards set forth by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Achievement & follow through of Haberfeld High Performance checking product ideals, foundations, and program. This includes but is not limited to the ability to complete checking account drill down menu for both retail and business checking products, tell a friend coupon program, cross selling, use of wow word, greeting all customers with a smile and calling them by name, and helping customers understand new bank products and services, maintain positive attitude toward HPC program and co-workers.
  2. Achievement and follow through of CUSB Bank’s Work Smarter Not Harder (WSNH) initiative in improving CUSB Bank’s processes by eliminating non-value added activities; creating a more efficient and effective work environment. This includes but not limited to participation in process launches, current state and future state mapping, and follow through on detailed assigned action steps for implementation. Maintain a positive attitude towards the WSNH initiative and leadership.
  3. Teamwork and empathy are to be demonstrated towards co-workers and CUSB Bank strategic initiatives. Employees are expected and will be held accountable to follow the CUSB Bank Employee Standards as outlined in the CUSB Employee Handbook; including but not limited to the CUSB 5 Pillars of Communication, Trust, Collective Responsibility, Caring and Pride.
  4. Develop knowledge of CUSB Bank’s customer service procedures to ensure they are met to the highest standard consistently.
  5. Develop knowledge to perform full range of duties pertaining to the loan processing/servicing function, including, but not limited to the following. Learn system inquiries to obtain credit history information on potential borrowers, answer customer inquiries, learn to prepare processing and closing documents for new and refinanced loan closings. Develop expertise to ensure that proper documents and disbursements are prepared accurately for loan officer performing the closing. Learn to obtain pay-off information as necessary.
  6. Develop knowledge to enter loans on the system.
  7. Develop knowledge to forward lien requests to Recorder and follow-up to insure proper recording of liens. Learn preparation of releases and satisfactions for loans.
  8. Develop knowledge on follow-up procedures for insurance requests to ensure receipt by insurer and place policy certificates in borrower files. Ascertain level of insurance is appropriate and the Bank is listed as lien holder.
  9. Develop knowledge on follow-up for replacement of canceled policies. Assist in preparing/handling death disability claims for customers. Assist in preparing monthly reports for carriers of adds/drops/renewals.
  10. Develop knowledge to obtain initial coverage binders or copies of policies from borrowers or insurance agents and maintain up-to-date policies in credit files.
  11. Develop knowledge on procedure for requesting yearly financial updates or annual reports and current tax filings from borrowers.
  12. Demonstrate support and utilization of various technology products and services at CUSB BANK including but not limited to the use of Synergy and CallTrax products.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Work as a Lending Assistant at or for any given location as may be required.
  2. Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences and workshops.
  3. Prepare and maintain reports, sorting and filing in appropriate manuals/books.
  4. Position may request some overnight travel to attend various training or educational programs. Position may require the ability to work before and/or after normal business hours.
  5. Learn other duties in order to facilitate day-to-day operations of other personnel in the department.
  6. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications/Know-How

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) ; or one to two years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to operate the following equipment: PC and printer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Demonstrate math skills as required to this position which includes adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

Oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position.

Ability to read, write and speak the English language.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.

Key Contacts

Has daily contact with loan officers to verify information necessary to process credit requests, denials, and closing.

Has limited contact with Credit Bureaus, title companies, Recorders, on borrower credit related reporting issues and pay-offs.

Has limited contact with customers, their personal representatives, accountants, real estate agents, insurance reps, title company reps, credit life/disability insurance company claims reps, attorneys, etc., in responding to inquiries as part of the loan processing function.

Has limited contact with Operations area to assist with completion of credit verifications and computer system payment posting and problems.

Has limited contact with other departments regarding customer related questions and transactions.

Has limited contact with other financial institutions in responding to credit information on customers (e.g., credit status, pay-offs).
