Position Overview:
Custom Manufacturing & Engineering, Inc. (CME) is seeking an Engineering Technician I to support the development, testing, and modification of machinery and equipment across electrical, software, and mechanical domains. This role will contribute to the engineering team by applying fundamental engineering principles in a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO-9000, AS9100, and CMMI. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience, technical curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review project plans and blueprints to determine test requirements and objectives
- Fabricate and assemble mechanical or electrical components for testing and production
- Conduct tests on components and systems to support design improvements
- Collaborate with engineering and drafting teams on design changes and manufacturing methods
- Analyze test results and modify equipment or processes as needed
- Evaluate drawings and specifications for accuracy and compliance
- Use CAD, OrCAD, or software tools to assist with design and documentation
- Document procedures, test data, and changes accurately
- Ensure work meets applicable laws, standards, and quality requirements
- Operate machines and tools as needed to support testing and builds
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
- Practical understanding of engineering principles in manufacturing
- Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical components, tools, and systems
- Experience with design software (OrCAD, CADCAM) and Microsoft Office
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to support implementation of designs on the production floor
- Basic understanding of DFM/DFA and quality processes
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint preferred)
- Clear written and verbal communication
Education & Training
- High School Diploma or AA/AS degree (technical/trade school preferred)
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Other Requirements:
- Positions with CME require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. Applicants must be "U.S. Persons" as defined in these regulations.
