What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Custom Manufacturing and Engineering?
Job Summary: Are you someone who has a passion for details and planning schedules? CME is looking for a highly organized and detailed individual who is a master planner and scheduler. We are seeking someone who has a knack for juggling multiple electrical/electronic products and the assembly in accordance with cost, schedule, and availability of parts as well as labor. The Production Planner is required to understand and develop the ERP/MRP production process as well as, work with and implement various advancements in Shop Floor Control, Product Data Management, Forecasting, Demand Planning, and Inventory Management. Ensure that plans for delivery of orders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop schedules to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation and department to meet customers' shipping dates.
- Review and communicate tracking info as it relates to material delivery and schedule.
- Maintain inventory levels to maximize inventory turns.
- Act as a liaison between the Manufacturing/Operations and Finance/Sales functions.
- Develop schedules to establish, sequence, lead-time of each operation, and department to meet customer's expectations
- Expedite processing of materials by releasing and processing customer/work orders.
- Assists with purchasing as may be required
- Maintain records and related documents on processing and production in support of goals & programs
- Support various engineering/manufacturing design changes and implementation of such on the production floor
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Experience in engineering and manufacturing industry of electronic/electrical components
- Expanded knowledge or prior use of manufacturing procedures (MRP, Deltek, Master scheduling, Bills of Materials)
- Ability to read & interpret specs, drawings/schematics, and part lists including prior experience with electrical, electronics, and/or mechanical components for build requirements
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and schedules
- Knowledge of material identities, part relationships, production systems and resolving supply chain problems
- Solid knowledge of inventory management programs and systems
- Strong performance completing repetitive data entry with dynamic responsibilities based on customer sales/demand
- Excellent oral and written communication, along with interpersonal, skills for interface with diverse groups
- Strong customer service skills are highly desired
- Good computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dozuki (Preferred)
- Identification of technical problems & development of sound/carefully thought-out solutions
- Understand and follow chemical safety requirements, and safety rules and regulations
- Understanding of ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint or similar
Minimum Requirements Needed:
- High School or AA/AS degree (trade or tech school) from an Accredited College/University
- BS/BA in Engineering or related field from an Accredited College/University (preferred)
