What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Designer position at Custom Optics Company (in NH)?
My client is a small (35-person) subsidiary of a large multi-national firm that develops custom optical (ultra violet, visible & infrared) systems for Gov’t. (DoD) and commercial imaging applications. A fast-paced design / prototyping / mfg. environment that offers exposure to a diverse range of products involving time-sensitive projects.
Their most acute need is an (on-site) Optical Designer / Project Engineer with excellent communication skills to evaluate, develop, analyze, test & characterize precision optical systems in a highly client-interactive environment. You will enjoy significant autonomy, and the ability to expand your responsibilities into new skill areas. (Fiber Optics or Lasers are not a good fit)
Qualifications :
- Develop design aspheres, reflective, and diffractive elements (using Zemax)
- System integration, metrology, testing, etc.
- Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity, and tolerance analysis.
- Generate PowerPoint presentations for Design Review Activities for in / external customers.
- Translate client input into firm optical specifications.
- Work with Mfg & Opto-Mech Engineers on tolerances, drawings & mounting schemes.
- Continually learn & share the latest in optical science & fundamental physics principles
Requirements
Compensation includes a full complement of benefits; salary of $90-$140k, bonus, 401k with company match, generous paid time off, and other perks.
