As a Laser Operator, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and precise operation of our advanced laser cutting systems. Your primary responsibilities will include running, programming, and maintaining the tube and flatbed lasers to meet productivity and efficiency goals. You will ensure that all products are produced to the highest quality standards, while adhering to safety protocols and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Specific Functions of the Job:
- Operate the flatbed laser safely and effectively.
- Use appropriate lifting devices to prepare and feed material into the laser.
- Ensure products are produced cleanly with no burrs and meet all specifications.
- Utilize white samples to verify that products meet customer specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints and process sheets accurately.
- Inspect all work before proceeding down the production line.
- Operate metal shaping machines, such as brakes and shears, for metal straightening and bending.
- Measure precisely using a tape measure.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including workstations and communal areas.
- Support and mentor newer employees as needed.
- Present a professional image of Essex Weld Solutions and commit to the safety and well-being of all employees.
- Engage in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives, focusing on process optimization and production flow.
- Report any hazards to the Plant Manager or Supervisor immediately for corrective action.
- Adhere to Section 28 of OHSA (Canada) and support the Health & Safety Program.
- Follow safe and proper use of machinery and tools.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Educational Requirements: Diploma in CNC or related field is an asset.
- Minimum Experience and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in CNC/Laser operation.
- Attention to detail and ability to navigate a Windows-based computer environment.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure and understanding basic tool functions.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical capability to lift over 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Steel toe boots required.
- Reliable transportation and availability to work any 3 shifts, including overtime as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
