As we expand our operations, we are seeking a Production Welding Manager to lead our welding team and oversee the production of large-scale weldments.
Position Overview
The Production Welding Manager will be responsible for managing the production of large-scale welded assemblies, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical welding expertise, and the ability to manage material flow in an assembly-line fashion. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing a team of 10 welders in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management – Lead, train, and oversee a team of welders and fabricators to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Material Flow & Staging – Ensure materials are properly procured, staged, and ready for production, minimizing downtime.
- Quality Control – Implement and enforce welding inspection processes to verify weld integrity and ensure final weldments match engineering drawings and specifications.
- Hands-On Support – While primarily a leadership role, the manager should be able to step in and assist with welding tasks when necessary.
- Process Optimization – Improve welding and fabrication processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Safety & Compliance – Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with all welding regulations and company policies.
- Collaboration – Work closely with engineering, procurement, and production teams to streamline operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5 years of welding experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Experience managing a team of 10 or more welders in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of large-scale weldments and fabrication workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with material handling, staging, and assembly processes.
- Strong knowledge of welding quality control procedures.
- CWB certification is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding is a plus.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or other efficiency improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
