The Estimator will report to the Estimation/Inside Sales Manager and will be responsible for collaborating with salesmen and customers to provide an accurate and timely quote that allows us to obtain an expected profit margin.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure that we are remaining competitive within the market while maintaining a profit margin that falls within our guidelines for profitability.
- Work directly with salespeople, support staff and customers to fully comprehend the requested quote requirements and breakdown the chassis, parts, and labor costs of the build.
- Plan and prioritize quoting activities by responding to and following-up with the salesperson on product inquiries.
- Research and monitor different vendors by gathering information on pricing, products, quality and lead times to ensure we are staying competitive in the market.
- Recommend alternative product lines to remain competitive with other bidders.
- Enter and track all quoting activity in our customer resource management system.
- Review previously quoted items to identify ways of increasing profit margin on future builds.
- Identify, research and create a bill of materials needed to complete the requested build that contains supplier, part number, quantity, cost and lead time.
- Work with the parts manager to identify current suppliers and pricing discount as well as verifying new vendor.
- Communicate the bill of materials to the proper channels once we receive a purchase order for the quoted build.
- Collaborate with salespeople and customers to identify what changes should be made on existing quotes to ensure accuracy and update the bill of materials accordingly.
- Communicate all updates through the proper channel.
- Keep record of previous quotes to review and identify what improvements should be made for future inquiries.
- Identify commonly used parts and integrate them into our quote sheets.
- Work cohesively with all other departments.
- Complete all other tasks given from the manager.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Professional and Technical knowledge of aerial vehicles, equipment and heavy & light duty trucks.
- Previous experience with estimation
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Professional personal appearance
- Extremely detail oriented and accurate.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

- Computers and Electronics — The applicant needs to be proficient on a computer and have the ability to learn new programs quickly. Must be able to use Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be able to work independently and create innovative solutions to problems with minimal direction from supervisors.
- Mathematical — Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
