Clinical Opportunity Summary:
- We are seeking two skilled Ultrasound Technologists to join our Imaging Services department at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL.

Job Responsibilities
- Interpret requests or instructions from radiologists or medical officers, ensuring accurate understanding and execution of diagnostic procedures.
- Independently interpret and carry out requests made by physicians, utilizing expertise in ultrasound technology to deliver high-quality results.
- Prepare rooms, equipment, and materials needed for patient procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers and follow VHA directives and policies, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Transfer patients safely and efficiently, utilizing ergonomic methods and devices to minimize risk and discomfort.
- Position patients for desired results, utilizing positioning cushions and privacy shields as necessary.
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on various body areas, including vascular studies, abdomen, neck, chest, extremities, pelvis, and retroperitoneal space.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring proper functioning and reporting any issues to appropriate personnel.
- Accurately document patient information and examination results in electronic health records systems, adhering to all safety protocols and HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area, restocking supplies and notifying supervisors of low inventory levels in a timely manner.
- Maximize patient throughput by communicating effectively with escorts, ward secretaries, nursing personnel, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Current Ultrasound license through ARRT-US or ARDMS
- Minimum 1 year experience performing vascular studies, including ankle-brachial indices and other studies using Photo-Plethysmography (PPG), and Doppler ultrasound studies.
- Proficiency in computer use and electronic health record systems (Oracle/Cerner experience preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with healthcare team members and patients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently to meet patient care needs.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and maneuver ultrasound equipment, with attention to safe patient handling techniques.
