The Optometric Technician would also be responsible for direct patient care in the clinical and optical setting and be comfortable assisting patients all ages including infants and geriatric patients of various non-English ethnic backgrounds. We are open to training the right candidate if he/she shows eagerness and flexibility to learn new skills and possesses strong customer service experience.
- Clinic and Optical duties such as:
- Work well with technology and various instruments.
- Gather information about a patient's vision and medical history via phone interpreter when necessary.
- Able to instruct patients with contact lens insertion, removal, care, and replacement.
- Possess strong customer service skills and deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner for our non-English speaking patients.
- Help process incoming and outgoing multidisciplinary provider referrals including co-management surgical procedures.
- Shall be able to read, write, and speak proficient English to effectively communicate with patients, clinic staff, providers, product representatives, or language interpreters.
- Assist patients with frame styling, frame repair/adjusting and PD measurements.
- Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patient according to written optical prescription or specification.
- Dispensing & Adjusting frames and lens position to fit patients.
- Follow up calls
- Be responsive and sound intelligent in answering questions from patients
- Assist in maintenance and minor repair of the instrumentation and equipment in the office
- Assist with daily administrative functions
- Perform daily closing duties
- Ensure that the entire office is a clean and pleasant service environment that is satisfactory to all customers and patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with 2 years of relevant work experience
- Must be a self-starter that can work without supervision
- Ability to provide genuinely friendly, enthusiastic and courteous communication to meet and exceed patient expectations as well as foster positive and results-oriented staff and vendor relationships
- Ability to be tactful, diplomatic and sincere with the public and to effectively handle patient concerns/complaints
- Experience with computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to present and implement decisive and creative solutions to issues/opportunities to grow the business
- Ability to manage priorities through adaptability, willingness to take calculated risks, and follow-up
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
