  • Ward Secretaries assume responsibility to carry out the clerical activities and coordinate communication at the nurses' station. They perform receptionist, telephone, and clerical duties to support physicians and nursing staff in the delivery of care and services to the patients. Ward Secretaries maintain medical records for each patient that are complete, readily accessible, and systematically organized. They interact with staff, patients and visitors, and others in a manner that facilitates communication and presents an appropriate image of the facility. These functions are essential components in achieving the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience:
    • Vocational education or 2 years of college preferred. Successful completion of the general clerical standard administered by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Human Resources Staff.
  • License/Certificates:
    • N/A
  • Special Skills and Aptitudes:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of computer skills and word process.
    • Effective interpersonal relation skills.
    • Satisfactorily complete hospital training program.
    • Effective interpersonal relationship skills including good listening and communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in variety of settings and with a variety of people at different organization levels.
    • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately.
    • Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation.
    • Exercises good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and insight to problem solving.
    • Adjusts to stressful situations with confidence and good judgment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Transcribes physician orders promptly and accurately.
  • Establishes appropriate priorities for receiving, recording, relaying and acting on information.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, patients and visitors.
  • Receives, places and transfers telephone calls courteously and professionally.
  • Responds to change productively and handles additional tasks when requested to do so.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates services attitude.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.

The pay range for this role is $19.39 to $23.32.
