Job Overview

We seek a talented and analytical Data Journalist to join our content team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of data analysis and storytelling skills, helping to uncover and present compelling stories grounded in data. You will work closely with various departments to identify trends, extract insights, and create data-driven stories that align with CV’s mission of evangelism and global Christian outreach. This role is integral in delivering engaging, insightful content that informs and inspires action while reflecting Christian values and ethos.

Specific Responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Storytelling:
• Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from multiple sources to find meaningful insights that support CV’s content strategy.
• Create engaging, fact-based stories by combining quantitative data with Christian narratives to connect with our audience on issues related to evangelism.
• Translate complex data into clear, visually engaging reports, articles, infographics, and interactive features for publication across digital platforms.
• Content Creation:
• Write and produce data-driven articles, blog posts, and features that communicate findings in a way that is accessible and relatable to a global Christian audience.
• Develop visualizations, charts, and other data-driven assets that enhance storytelling and engage readers.
• Collaborate with editors, designers, and content creators to ensure data is presented in a compelling and meaningful way.
• Research & Collaboration:
• Stay up-to-date with global trends, social issues, and developments relevant to CV’s mission and use data to explore how these issues impact communities worldwide.
• Work closely with CV’s teams across the world to use data to highlight the impact of evangelism projects, helping to track progress and demonstrate the real-world effect of the organization’s efforts.
• Collaborate with external data providers, research organizations, and Christian networks to gather and verify data sources.
• Audience Engagement:
• Use audience analytics and feedback to tailor content that resonates with CV’s target audience, including churches, Christian leaders, and general faith-based communities.
• Ensure that data stories align with the organization’s Christian values, reflecting integrity, truthfulness, and sensitivity to faith-related content.
• Data Verification & Ethics:
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data used in reporting, adhering to strict journalistic and ethical standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of data privacy and security when handling sensitive information.

Essential Skills / Experience / Education

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience as a data journalist, data analyst, or similar role with a strong portfolio showcasing data-driven stories.
• Follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating a high level of spiritual maturity and a deep passion for Christian ministry.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) and familiarity with data visualization tools.
• Strong writing skills, with the ability to turn complex data into engaging narratives.
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis and the ability to interpret and communicate data trends.
• Experience working with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
