Position Summary
This position will lead and manage the Human Resources team who are located at the Company’s operating facilities and includes oversight of all labor relations. This role is an objective partner to HR and senior leaders within the business to work collaboratively to resolve, counsel and provide employee relations solutions. The incumbent’s accountabilities will include: HR supervisory duties over multiple locations; nitrogen fertilizer and refineries’ primary point of contact for labor, employee relations; provide high level support for all operating locations; and support and advise the Vice President Human Resources on the status of each operating location. Additional duties include: lead investigations; review employee and organizational trends and monitor laws and regulations; support the Corporate HR team; serve as subject matter expert in employee relations, labor and return to work issues; and, supervise field HR personnel.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management or other related technical discipline required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in HR capacity required
- Minimum of 5 years in a lead role for labor relations , preferably in the chemical or manufacturing business
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a corporate and/or refinery environment strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience required
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and recommend HR strategy, objectives and policies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse populations, multiple work groups, professions and senior level leadership required
- Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, and labor required
- Work experience must include multi-state coordination, exempt and non-exempt employees, and union exposure
- Demonstrated proficiency in applicable labor and employment law, dispute resolutions, mediation techniques and contract interpretation required
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite required
- Fluent in English, both oral and written, required
- Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and formulation of strategy skills required
- Demonstrated competencies of organizational agility, political savviness , and composure
- Ability to determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee engagement for continuous improvement
- Ability to travel as needed
- Oversee and have ownership of employee relations and labor program, for field locations
- Develop, recommend, evaluate, and implement policies, procedures, and programs related to employee relations in support of business plan and objectives.
- Advise the Vice President Human Resources on the status of HR related topics/issues/opportunities at each field location.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with Corporate HR team, Legal and Plant Managers to communicate efforts, progress and outcome of talent management, labor, and recruiting program
- Conduct employee relations investigations, where appropriate, and provide guidance on possible solutions in accordance with current laws, regulations and policies
- Provide prompt advice to supervisors, managers and leadership team on the full range of labor and employee relations matters
- Track and monitor all grievances, identify trends and develop strategies to reduce grievances for all field locations
- Manage Field HR staff serving as the Department’s representative for the Company’s facilities and or location
- Act as an internal consultant for HR leadership and program(s) subject matter expert to business unit heads, and key organization stakeholders
- Keep abreast of current laws and regulations regarding employee relations, recruiting, labor law and return to work practices (personal leaves and workers compensation)
- Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
- Efficiently implement strategic initiatives and provide professional, effective ongoing support
- Effectual, proficient support of employee relations, recruiting and return back to work program
- Professionally, effectively provide consultation and support to VP HR and HR leadership team
- Compliance with mandated laws and regulations
- Equitable and timely execution of investigating and prompt dispute resolution
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures
