POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for improved availability and reliability of nitrogen fertilizer electrical and controls equipment through proper design, utilization or engineering best practices and mechanical integrity. To ensure all plant electrical and control systems function as designed with minimal outage occurrences and durations. The Electrical Specialist will be responsible for the design and execution of safety, sustaining and growth electrical projects and assisting I & E with daily preventative maintenance activities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 year technical degree in Electrical / Electronic Technology degree preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of successful work experience with strong skills as an electrical or instrumentation technician
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in the control systems required
- Broad knowledge of and experience with instrumentation, controls and power system required
- Demonstrated ability to organize, read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Demonstrated competency of analytical problem solving, troubleshooting abilities and leadership skills
- Thorough understanding of electrical maintenance work practices, NEC, NFPA 70 and related codes and standards
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, such as Maximo
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Fluent in English, oral and written required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in development and managing shutdown and turnaround activities
- Maintain and promote a high degree of safe work practices within the work group
- Thorough and concise oral and written communication with plant personnel, vendors and suppliers
- Develop and/or coordinate training for technicians to enable current proficiency in all I&E activities
- Interface and coordinate with purchasing, vendors, contactors to maintain parts and material supplies
- Perform QA/QC for new projects and maintenance work
- Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
