Job Title: Soda Fountain / Luncheonette Cashier
Schedule: 8-3, Part Time, Weekends
Position Overview:
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-oriented Soda Fountain and Luncheonette Cashier to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for greeting customers, processing orders and payments, and ensuring a smooth and efficient front-of-house experience. You will assist in serving both soda fountain treats (like milkshakes, floats, and sundaes) and classic luncheonette dishes (like sandwiches, burgers, and fries). Your focus will be on delivering excellent service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude and take their orders.
- Operate the cash register to process customer orders, handle payments, and provide accurate change.
- Ensure correct and efficient handling of cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Assist customers with menu questions, make recommendations, and inform them of daily specials.
- Prepare and serve simple items like sodas, drinks, and snacks when needed.
- Ensure customers are satisfied with their dining experience and address any concerns or issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized front-of-house area, including counters, dining areas, and condiment stations.
- Restock supplies such as napkins, straws, cups, drinks, and utensils to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Collaborate with kitchen and soda fountain staff to ensure that orders are processed efficiently and delivered in a timely manner.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist in keeping the dining area and soda fountain area clean, organized, and welcoming for customers.
- Assist with any additional tasks as needed, including cleaning and organizing.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cashier, in customer service, or in food service is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
