Heavy Civil Estimator

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Heavy Civil Estimator to join our construction team. The primary objective of this role is to accurately estimate costs and prepare bids for heavy civil engineering projects, ensuring that we remain competitive and profitable while meeting client expectations. Project scope will include (but is not limited to): foundation drilling, substation construction, transmission lines, installation of utilities, and excavation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
• Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for estimates.
• Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather data for accurate estimating.
• Prepare and submit bids in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with all specifications and requirements.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor project costs and assist in managing project budgets as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an estimator in the heavy civil construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods and materials.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS or B2W
• Prior experience with deep foundation, high voltage, and/or underground utility projects
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
