Responsibilities
- Review specifications and construction plans, to estimate material and labor requirements.
- Visit the work site to observe conditions and potential impacts on the scope of work.
- Perform take-off and pricing for mechanical work, including, piping, processing, installation, and some electrical work.
- Prepare invitation list to subcontractors & suppliers.
- Resolve estimate issues with engineers as they arise.
- Work with subcontractors to review and discuss scope of work.
- Adjust standard cost database as needed due to difficulty and risk of work.
- Draft subcontracts for new projects
- Coordinate with estimating teams to ensure accuracy of full scope of work.
- Prepare estimating files for project managers and general engineering division.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
- Knowledgeable with piping systems, materials, and installation techniques.
- Familiar with water/wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related processes.
- Able to accurately compute costs/figures on computer database using: percentages, algebra, and geometry.
