Process Engineer

Are you a creative engineer with a passion for innovation? Join our dynamic team as a Tool Design Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of designing cutting-edge cold forming and cold heading tooling. You'll dive into cold forming simulations, tooling design details, and material selections, all while pioneering new die/tooling techniques. Your role will also involve researching the latest tooling and machine technologies to develop new products, enhance existing ones, and drive cost efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess tooling design requirements for complex cold heading parts, including costing estimates, run rates, throughput, and feasibility.
• Master the art of cold forming product design and development, from single die to multi-die progressive equipment.
• Innovate with tooling materials, machine problem-solving, and enhancements to improve tool life and reduce waste.
• Follow tooling designs from experimental stages to production, ensuring product feasibility and profitability.
• Collaborate with project engineers, product designers, process engineers, sales personnel, production teams, toolmakers, and vendors to optimize tool designs.
• Publish and share models and drawings with management, sales, customers, programmers, toolmakers, and other stakeholders.
• Assist in the ECR/ECN process for prototypes and new products.
• Contribute to various stages of the Advance Product and Quality Process (APQP), including PFMEA and Control Plan creation.
  
  

CAD Responsibilities

• Utilize your expertise in CAD software to sketch, model, and detail tooling designs.
• Create detailed drawings, assembly layouts, and tooling layouts using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and other design platforms.
• Maintain current revision levels of all model and drawing files and develop an efficient library system for data retrieval.
• Share data securely with customers, programmers, and vendors.
  
  

Required Skills/Abilities

• Gain in-depth knowledge of plant procedures and work instructions to achieve maximum quality performance.
• Thrive in a team environment, collaborating with department members to ensure project success.
• Contribute to the building of samples, prototypes, and tooling based on engineering drawings and concepts.
• Prepare accurate tooling cost estimates for new products.
• Troubleshoot design or manufacturing problems with a keen problem-solving skillset.
• Conduct effective tooling analysis and simulation for product applications.
• Utilize the company's ERP information system accurately for job responsibilities.
• Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external representatives to accomplish job-related duties.
  
  

Education And Experience

• AS in Engineering with focused experience in cold forming or BS in Engineering with exposure to cold forming.
• 5 years of experience utilizing 2D & 3D CAD software.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds at times.
• Navigate and access various departments within the organization's facilities.
